Project Management
The 2-day program provides pragmatic training, guidelines, roles, practical tools and techniques necessary to define, plan and implement projects. Participants learn a common business language to help them successfully complete a project and communicate it effectively to upper management. Through participation in a sample case project participants prepare a project overview, work breakdown structure, a network diagram, identify the Critical Path and assess risks.
NEW - Microsoft Project Standard 2003 - NEW
This 2-day program builds on the knowledge and skills learned in the pre-requisite program, Smart © Project Management, and teaches the sophisticated desktop user to plan and manage projects with Microsoft Office Project Standard 2003

). Learn to keep projects on time and within budget by efficiently organizing and tracking tasks and resources. The learning environment includes lecture, case study analysis, team presentations and simulations. Take advantage
of significant timesaving improvements and interactive connectivity. This application forms the basis for upgrading to Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management (EPM).
Microsoft Project 2000
This 2-day program builds on the knowledge and skills learned in the pre-requisite program, Smart© Project Management. Participants learn to use this management tool to solve the project business problem with a precision not available in manual processes. Participants develop solutions to project end date, start and end dates of tasks, resource over-allocations, task and project cost, cash flow, variance analysis against baseline, critical path and the down-stream impact of changes, availability of slack, and conduct “what if” analysis. Participants apply software features and capabilities to plan, track, manage and report status on a project.
NEW - Risk Management - NEW
Project risk is an uncertain event or condition that, if it occurs, has a negative (or positive) effect on a project objective.” (PMBOK® Guide 2000) Edition. Left unattended could result in not meeting one or more of the project’s objectives, a different approach than originally planned and/or in-intended consequences . Risk management and contingency planning are critical to the success of every project. This 2-day program presents a structured, multi-tiered approach to identify the different risk types. The program is directly applicable to principles and techniques outlined in PMI’s Project Management Body of Knowl edge (PMBOK).
Management of Multiple Projects
This 1-day program examines the impact of adding additional
projects to a project portfolio. It is designed to assist managers in
determining the point at which profits are reduced as critical projects
are delayed. The program focuses on the allocation of scarce resources.
Participants learn how to match workload to organizational capacity. Participants
create resource pools, stack multiple projects, assess over-allocations
of resources and determine the impact on critical paths and on the total
portfolio. Participants draw lessons from case studies and apply them
to their company.
NEW - 360' Project Management - NEW
This 3-day offering is a pragmatic project management program
that integrates the skills, knowledge and techniques of project
management with team management, interpersonal communication and
collaboration skills. The objective is to create an environment for
project managers to learn to deal effectively with the entire spectrum
of demands (technical, business, personal and political) placed upon
them in the workplace. A wide variety of learning methods will be
employed during the program: classroom discussion, role play scenarios,
team interactions and presentations. This course is consistent with the
standards and requirements set by Project Management Institute (PMI) for
certification. Incorporated in this program is the Project Handshake©,
a series of multi-level company conversations to occur during tollgate
review meetings.
Project Procurement Management
This 1-day program provides pragmatic training, guidelines,
roles, practical tools and techniques necessary to guide the procurement
of products and services for projects. Participants learn a common business
language of procurement to help them to control outsourcing and reduce
overall costs.
Advanced Project Management
This 2-day program provides techniques and process for
the advanced project manager. The program is comprised of three modules:
- Advanced Project Management concepts and processes,
- Managerial and leadership techniques, and
- Microsoft Project 2000 software lab
The program integrates concepts necessary for the management of project managers and project portfolios and examines the impact of adding an additional project(s) to a project portfolio. It is designed to assist managers in examining the point at which critical projects will be delayed due to over-allocations.
Certificate in Project Management
This 4-day program provides a broad overview of essential
project management topics and issues:
- Project concepts sets the context for the successful
management of projects.
- Project management process model discusses three
phases of project planning. Individuals work in teams on a case study
and model the steps in planning a project and apply concepts.
- Project 2000 provides the basics of creating and
editing a Gantt Chart.
- An interpersonal and communication skill addresses
the communication skills necessary for successfully managing projects.
- Advanced issues provides financial techniques and
explores issues related to integrating project skills.
Executive Overview
This 3-hour seminar is designed to support executive managers in creating an environment for the successful management of projects. It provides a framework for understanding project management terminology and concepts. It is custom designed to meet specific corporate needs.
